The First Ever Tournament of what would become the
spTT league didn't have a name at the time but was later given the name of the Lumber
Shield, the first edition. At this time the league had only eight players as can be seen.
The first match was a highly spirited match between H. Cooper and N. Avilez, however, H.
Cooper proved to be superior and overcame N. Avilez in style. D. Phillips easily outplayed
the much less experienced C. Clarke to move on to the semi-finals. A. Lewis also took out
his opponent, K. Lamb, without much trouble, as did R. McKoy over S. Lewis.
The Semi Finals saw the four most touted players
taking on each other. H. Cooper took on D.Phillips in a competitive match. The two battled
it out but H. Cooper proved to be superior on this day and prevailed. The second match saw
A. Lewis upsetting R. McKoy, in what turned out to be a much less competitive match than
what was expected, with A. Lewis winning in two sets.
The finals saw what turned out to be an okay match but
not necessarily an outstanding match with H. Cooper polishing off A. Lewis.
